Speaking on the occasion, Congress President Luizinho Faleiro turned up the ante against the BJP government while chiding it as a government of U-turns.
“Be it casinos, development, employment, inflation or any other major issue, the BJP has only made U-turns,” Faleiro said and came down heavily on former chief minister Manohar Parrikar for leaving the Goans in the lurch midway without fulfilling the promises made to the people.
“The Congress waited patiently for three years to give time for the BJP to perform. But now we are not going to keep quiet on the non-performance of the government,” Faleiro said and added that the party will highlight to the people, at every given opportunity, the failures of the BJP government.
Highlighting the lack of development in Cumbarjua constituency, local MLA Pandurang Madkaikar opined that the ruling panels of various panchayats which had abandoned Congress and embraced BJP are now joining back to the Congress as they have realized that the assurances given by the BJP were false.
“This proves that the BJP is not trustworthy,” he said and added that only the Congress party is capable of fulfilling the wishes of the people.
Madkaikar further informed that he would build a hospital at the venue of the meeting, in two years time, so that the people from the constituency could benefit.
Leader of the Opposition Pratapsing Rane also spoke on the occasion.
