PANJIM: Rains accompanied by gusty winds lashed the State Monday night. This probably could be the precursor to the full blown monsoons which starts with Mirg observed on June 5 and 6 by the Catholic and Hindu communities respectively.
The rains brought welcome relief from the sweltering heat even as civic authorities are still scrambling to finish cleaning works.
The Met department has indicated that the South West Monsoon will begin with Mirg on June 5, plus or minus 4 days.
