CARMONA: Sao Jose de Areal got the better St Rock YC, Majorda 3-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the John Cruz Ferrao Memorial Cup organised by Carmona Sports Club, at village panchayat ground, Carmona, on Saturday.
Alvito opened the score-line for Areal in the sixth minute. Minutes later, Ariaison doubled the account for Areal while Monty too recorded his name on the score sheet to make it 3-0 for Areal in the 56th minute.
Stanford D Costa scored pulled a goal back for Majorda just few minutes left for the final whistle.
Tohan Dias of St Rock YC, Majorda was adjudged as the Man-of-the-Match. Sao Jose de Areal will now meet Carmona SC in the quarter-finals on February 23.
