Last year, Goa
witnessed a coming together, an amalgamation of cultures unlike any other.
People converged from all corners of the globe onto the shores of one of the
littlest states of the country, all for one purpose alone; to make their
presence felt at Sufi Sutra, a World Peace Music Festival that aims to bring
about a convergence of ideas on truth, harmony, peace and divinity. Returning
to Goa in 2016, this is Sufi Sutra’s second
innings in the state. The initiative is a joint effort of the Directorate of
Art and Culture, Govt. of Goa, Kala Academy, Goa and
banglanatak dot com.
The festival aims at connecting
Indian folk artists to the world through cultural exchange and to promote
cultural pluralism. This is primarily because the good people at banglanatak
dot com believe that cultural dialogues develop mutual knowledge on different
musical traditions and create a scope for developing new collaborations.

Speaking on the event, Amitava
Bhattacharya, Founder Director of banglanatak dot com said, “This year’s
edition of Sufi Sutra will see groups from across Europe, the Americas and Africa
take to the stage over three a span of days, to regale audiences from across
the state. Seven cultures in all will come together, amalgamating music forms
of different sorts; which is how it should be.”
Sufi Sutra will run
from February 10-12, 2016 at Kala Academy in Panjim
