PONDA: Hundreds of workers staged a rally at Kundaim Industrial Estate on Wednesday to protest against alleged atrocities against workers employed in industrial estates in the State.
It may be recalled that Goa Trade Union’s Confederation (GTUC), an alliance of about 18 workers unions from the State, had decided to start agitation to demand action from the government to resolve issues concerning the workers.
GTUC has decided to take up the ongoing issue of about 160 permanent workers of a pharmaceutical company at Kundaim Industrial Estate and then plan similar agitations in rest of the industrial units in the State.
Employees of a pharmaceutical unit at Kundaim are on indefinite strike since June 26 against the management’s decision to appoint contract workers in the production department which they oppose.
