MARGAO: The Margao Police arrested 25-year-old Mahesh Muttappa Shivappa Madur from Talconda-Raia in connection with the theft of gold ornaments. Police have registered the offence under Section 380 of IPC against the accused.
In her complaint, the resident of Aquem-Alto, Margao said on the day of her father’s funeral, Mahesh, the driver of the hearse, was engaged for the funeral service. Mahesh stole ornaments including a gold chain and six gold finger rings from her father’s suit which she had handed over to the accused. Further investigation is on.

Police said they are yet to ascertain the value of the stolen gold ornaments.
