PONDA: In a bid to reduce plastic waste, the Goa Dairy has introduced a new scheme for schools across the State.
The Goa Dairy has appealed to school managements to introduce a project for school students, where students will be asked to collect empty Goa Dairy milk packets once a month.
“Goa Dairy, the only dairy in the State supporting milk producers/farmers, has been very active in supporting environmental issues. Today, plastic degradation is a burning issue faced by all of us, and as such we appeal to all the educational institutions to support us in making Goa a plastic-free state,” stated waste management scheme appeal letter of Goa Dairy which will be circulated in various educational institutions in the State.
According to the appeal letter, the scheme will not only help to protect the environment, but also benefit schools as one Goa Dairy milk packet will be credited to school against 100 empty milk packets of Goa Dairy collected.
“The milk packets will be collected by the Goa Diary once a month from the school. Equivalent to cost of milk packets any products of Goa Dairy will be delivered to school as per the need during school events,” added the appeal letter.
According to information, the Goa Dairy has similar scheme for residents, where one milk packet is given free against 100 empty milk packets of Goa Dairy.
