While the CMC Chairperson had quit office on Monday as per an understanding reportedly entered into with the ruling group on the eve of the no confidence motion, Landry has withdrawn his resignation on Thursday.
Director of Municipal Administration, Venancio Furtado, has confirmed that the CMC Chairperson has withdrawn his resignation on Thursday. Landry was not available for comment, but sources in the know said that Landry has withdrawn the resignation after discussing the matter with members of the ruling group and former MLA Joaquim Alemao.
Landry had quit office to pave way for senior Councillor Laxman Naik to take over the Municipal reigns. Sources in the know said that Landry had handed his resignation to the ruling group before the no confidence motion came up for discussion and the same was forwarded to the DMA’s office by a member of the group.
