Dempo SC beat FC Madras to keep semi-finals hopes alive

KOLKATA/PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club scored an impressive 3-1 win over FC Madras in the All India Football Federation (AIFF) U-15 Hero Junior League match, played at YBK Stadium (Salt Lake) Kolkata.
Following their 0-2 defeat against Bengaluru FC in the first league match, Dempo SC came back strongly in their second match. Golden Eagles knew that it was a must win situation to be in the race and to keep pressure on Bengaluru FC side. 
Dempo started with a positive attitude and scored the first goal in the 11th minute through Vieri Colaco when he capitalised on a wrong pass from FC Madras defender. 
Dempo SC dominated the play in the first quarter. The only shot of the match from opponent’s side came in the 28th minute which was easily dealt by Dempo SC keeper.
Golden Eagles could have inflated the tally in the 38th minute when Sherwin Abranches played a perfect pass from the right flank to Velanco Rodrigues, but the latter reacted slowly. 
Golden Eagles started where they had left and increased the margin in the 51st minute through captain Necio Fernandes who converted from the spot kick
Vieri Colaco did well when he dribbled past couple of rival defender in the box but the Dempo SC striker was brought down in the box and referee pointed straight to the spot. 
Due to lack of concentration, Dempo Sports Club conceded goal in the 81 minute as Laxmi Prasad limbo scored for the Madras team.
Dempo SC came with a swift response in the next minute and scored the third goal through Shreyash Naik when he was fed by a good cross by Rohit Shirodkar to make it 3-1.
Dempo SC will play their last league match against FC Mumbai on May 25.
