Vasco locals fume over unavailability of full time Chief Officer in MMC

VASCO: The locals living in the Mormugao Municipal Council jurisdiction are clueless and helpless these days as there is no full time Chief Officer for the A Grade Municipality for so many months.

They are also irritated and unhappy over the frequent transfers of the Chief Officers in the MMC.

The locals residing in the MMC area are facing great inconvenience due to the unavailability of the full time Chief Officer in the municipality since much time. People have expressed their dismay over the frequent transfers of the Chief Officers within six months or year’s time, which has directly affected several pending works and streamlining work of the municipality. 

A local, Chandrashekhar Vast, who had come to meet the Chief Officer on Tuesday for his work was very much disappointed to witness that after several rounds to the municipality, the new Chief Officer has not taken over the charge yet.

He said that this A Grade municipality does not have a full time Chief Officer. There are so many issues such as garbage, illegal encroachments in market areas etc. which are yet to be solved.

“In this municipality, for years so many Chief Officers have come and gone. What the Urban Development Minister is doing to solve this issue,” he questioned. 

Another local, a lady, who had come from Mangor area, said that she wanted to meet the Chief Officer for some work and had come thrice since two weeks but she is unable to meet the Chief Officer and this is very frustrating. 

“Does it feel good to the government authorities and ministers to make people’s life miserable,” she questioned.
