PONDA: Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) installed its students’ Goa Chapter at Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi.
Addressing the students, EDC Chairman Sidharth Cuncolienkar, who was the chief guest, said while pursuing engineering education, students should explore and create employment opportunities through research in laboratories and emphasised that safety was an integral part of life.
Students representative from various streams are members of the Students Chapter and were later given certificates by Kuncolienkar, Director of Fire and Emergency Ashok Menon, College Principle Vinayak Shet and others.
Giving information about of objective of FSAI Sekhar said it aims to educate students in building automation, fire safety and electronic security, internship, volunteer and research opportunities, enhance skill of students and explore career opportunities.
Menon said at the time of emergency everyone felt the need to become fire fighter to extinguish fire and added that educational as well as residential buildings should be properly equipped with fire extinguishing equipment and technical students can play major role in it.
Other NSAI students Goa Chapter at GEC office bearers include secretary Vardan Kamath, Joint Secretary Janvi Athle, Joint Secretary Minguel Costa and Joint Secretary Suhel Khan. While representatives include Videsh Padiar, Pranay Shirodkar, Rajdeep Gosavi, Rajvi Lavande, Laxmi Kamath, Adithya Kamath, Sohel Sheikh, Ritesh Pilgaonkar.
Beside, there are 195 member students on the Chapter, where the principal is in charge, while Ganesh Hegde, Shashank Sawanth and Pradosh Prabudesai are coordinators.
