Monkeys have continued to torment residents of Baye-Surla in Bicholim taluka, after two children were attacked in the past few days.
According to reports, a 2-year-old boy from Baye Surla was seriously injured after being mauled by a monkey on Friday.
The incident took place at about 3.30 pm, when Sagar V Chavan was playing in the house. A monkey entered the house and bit the boy on his legs and thighs, besides inflicting multiple injuries on his body.
Forest Department officials rushed Sagar to the Sanquelim Primary Health Centre. He was later moved to the Asilo Hospital at Mapusa.
In a similar incident, a 5-year-old girl Sweta M Dhuri was also bitten by a monkey and is being treated for the injuries.
It may be recalled that Dhanashree Mhawlingkar (2) and one-and-half-year old Granthali Rama Khodginkar had also been attacked by a monkey last month. The Forest Department had placed a trap at the site to catch the monkeys, but all efforts have been futile so far.
