PANJIM: In a bid to provide some relief to fishermen from Sindhudurg, the State government has moved a proposal to start a wholesale fish market in Pernem with financial support from the Maharashtra government.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said he held a meeting with Maharashtra Minister Dipak Kesarkar on the issue.
“I met Kesarkar and discussed on the proposal to start wholesale fish market in Pernem for Sindhudurg fish traders, he was positive,” Rane said adding that the Maharashtra government is ready to spend.
“It’s a good proposal and I will take it forward with a meeting with FDA of Sindhudurg soon,” he disclosed.
