PANJIM: The Panjim police have managed to get a breakthrough in a hit-and-run case, which claimed life of an elderly citizen at D B Marg road last week.
Sources said that CCTV images show that a speeding Maruti 800 car knocked down George Rebello, and his wife Emilia while both were crossing the road. However, since the images are blurred, the police have reportedly not been able to trace the car’s registration number or the driver.
“We are taking help of experts to get details through the images. We will also get details of all such cars plying across the streets in the city and adjoining places,” said an officer.
George had succumbed to injuries while Emilia sustained serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the State observed ‘World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims’ on Sunday and condemned accidents, most of which are due to rash and negligent driving.
