PANJIM: The transfer of Azossim-Mandur panchayat secretary has become an issue for St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar and Sarpanch Ajit Bakal.
St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar said that during his surprise visit to the Azossim-Mandur Village Panchayat, he found Panchayat Secretary Babush Naik absent for last three weeks and brought it to the notice of the Tiswadi Block Development Officer (BDO) Anil Dhumaskar, who had also visited the village panchayat.
He also produced attendance roll showing Naik’s absenteeism for 21 days and said that his absence was causing inconvenience to the villagers visiting the panchayat office for various works.
However, Azossim-Mandur Sarpanch Ajit Bakal said that he had written letters to the Tiswadi BDO and the Director of Panchayat requesting to appoint a full-time panchayat secretary since Naik was promoted as extension officer of village panchayats and was visiting the Azossim-Mandur Panchayat on alternate days.
Bakal said that he and other panchayat members saw that the villagers were not inconvenienced and used to contact Naik in the Tiswadi BDO office.
He said that following his letters, the BDO Dhusmkar visited the panchayat office and it was co-incidence that the MLA visited the panchayat.
Meanwhile, Director of Panchayat Siddhi Halarnakar on Wednesday issued an order asking Pirna Village Panchayat Secretary Keshav Phadte to hold additional charge of Azossim-Mandur Village Panchayat with immediate effect until further orders.
Accordingly, extension officer of village panchayats Babu Naik has been relieved from additional charge of Azossim-Mandur Village Panchayat.
