PANJIM: In an attempt to streamline affairs at the Directorate of Women & Child Department (WCD), Minister Vishwajit Rane has proposed constituting an empowered committee for a complete revamp of the department.
“I want to put up an empowered committee with some 3-4 members like Secretary (WCD), Director (WCD). The committee would be under me (being the WCD minister). There is a need to revamp the department as it has been neglected for a while,” Rane said on Tuesday, in response to a question about the controversy surrounding Apna Ghar, which comes under the WCD.
The Minister conceded that various issues need to be looked into, including the situation prevailing at the shelter-cum-remand home, all of which could begin with the setting up of the proposed committee.
