PORVORIM: Fatorda’s Independent MLA VijaI Sardesai has questioned the works taken up by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) at a cost higher than Public Works Department (PWD).
“GSIDC does work at an average of 30 per cent higher costs than PWD, as it calculates costs not on GSR but on market costs… The Miramar-Dona Paula road under the GSIDC is yet to see the light of the day,” the legislator said on the floor of the House while participating in demands for grants on PWD, River Navigation and Transport.
He stated that after calculating values of 13,000-odd works through replies of starred LAQs it was noticed that since 2013, 12,374 works have been tendered by the PWD and 238 works through the GSIDC.
“The 12,374 works of the PWD were tendered for amount totaling to Rs 2,122 crores. While the 238 works tendered through the GSIDC at a whopping Rs 3327 crores,” he said reiterating his question on high amount works tendered to GSIDC.
Sardesai further mentioned that out of the Rs 2,122-odd crores worth of works tendered Rs 1,150 crores approx have been paid to the contractors while Rs 970 crores are pending.
“And of the Rs 3,327-odd crores tendered through the GSIDC, Rs 1,824 crores have been paid to the contractors and Rs 1,503 crores are pending.”
The legislator questioned the concerned minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar as to why he was tolerating the injustice from his coalition partner in the government.
