PANJIM: GPCC president Girish Chodankar on Wednesday made a forceful plea for a full-time Chief Minister in Goa in view of Manohar Parrikar’s deteriorating health requiring him to be again shifted to USA for treatment.
“The constitutional machinery has failed. There is no semblance of collective responsibility of ministers,” Chodankar said in a statement.
Chodankar further said that the State administration is in the ICU in view of the absence of Chief Minister and two of his senior colleagues on medical grounds for several months.
“With uncertainty prevailing as regards the health of CM and his non availability it brings to the issue of complete constitutional failure as well as administration failure,” he said.
Chodankar said this has been happening since February and added that with the frequency of his absenteeism it is time he hand over charge to some other person as the people should not bear the brunt of his health as the administration is totally on its knees.
“Manohar Parrikar’s obstinate insistence on sticking to his chair is jeopardising not only his own health but it is also impacting the administration and health of the State,” Chodankar charged.
“Parrikar, BJP, MGP & GFP have no right to hold the State and its people to ransom through emotional blackmail by cashing on people’s sentiment of goodwill towards a sick man,” he added.
He also charged that BJP does not trust its allies as no one is being given charge to run the State. “We once again appeal to the Governor to intervene to have a fulltime CM, if not she should withdraw her pleasure in the Council of Ministers and dismiss this government forthwith and restore the mandate of the people by inviting Congress party to form the government.”
