PANJIM: Following directions from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ruling BJP ministers and MLAs from Goa have decided to submit details of their bank account transactions between November 8 and December 31 to their party President Amit Shah.
Speaking to Herald, BJP spokesperson Kiran Kandolkar said that though they have not received any formal communication from their party high command in this regard, the State unit has asked all its ministers and MLAs to submit the details.
“We will be submitting the details of our transactions from November 8 to December 31 to Amit Shah,” he said.
The prime minister had announced demonetization policy on November 8 under which old Rs 500 and 1,000 currency notes were made invalid. The decision, as per the government, has been taken to tackle the problem of black money cash and circulation of counterfeit currency. However, the government is also facing sharp criticism from opposition parties because of the “lack of planning” and “poor implementation” of the policy.
The opposition parties also alleged that many were tipped off about notes ban. To counter the allegations, prime minister issued directions to all its ministers, MPs and MLAs to submit transaction details.
The BJP leader feels that the opposition parties should also come out and declare their transaction during the same period. “I feel, the oppositions should also adopt the policy,” Kandolkar stated.
