PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club made light work of Calangute Association with a 4-0 win in the Goa Football Association’s Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Monday.

The Golden Eagles led by a goal at half which was scored through Klusner Pereira while they added three more in the second half through Pedro Gonsalves, Desmon Pereira and Aman Govekar.

Calangute Association keeper Presley Mascarenhas was forced to an early save when Suraj Hadkonkar tried his luck from distance. At the other end, Calangute came with a quick counter where Chaitan was denied by Dylan Da Silva.

Dempo SC came close to scoring in the 20th minute but Saiesh was unable to connect to Suraj’s cross. But finally they broke the deadlock in the 27th minute where Klusner Pereira headed in Suraj’s cross.

In the 40th minute, Shallum Pires sent in a long freekick to Edwin Viegas, but the stopper back’s header was kept out of the goal by Presley.

In the second half, Dempo started brightly but were denied by the post when Shallum found Desmon Pereira and the latter’s effort came off the frame.

Dempo SC doubled the tally in the 55th minute when Vieri Colaco sent in a low cross to Pedro Gonsalves, who tapped in to make it 2-0.

Dempo scored the third through Desmon, who scored past Presley.

In the 81st minute, Dempo netted their fourth when Latesh Mandrekar whipped in a low cross where Aman Govekar found the end of it and placed the call in the goal.
