PANJIM: As many as 27 people lost their lives in road accidents in the month of January this year, the Transport Department’s monthly statistics revealed.
The department has compiled their monthly report of number of accidents that occurred and challans issued in January. As per the report there were 327 road accidents of which 26 were fatal accidents that involved 13 each in North and South Goa. Total 27 people lost their lives in these fatal accidents. Sixteen riders, six pillion riders and three pedestrians were amongst those who died.
Nearly 25 people were grievously injured in the 17 accidents.
