Panjim Police recover three country-made pistols along with bullets

PANJIM: Two Pune natives are among five persons arrested for possessing illegal firearms and for creating a terror-like situation through random firing. The Panjim Police arrested the youth, aged between 20 and 25 years and recovered three country made pistols along with bullets. 

Gautam Asnotkar of Merces and Akash Mutwadi of Taleigao, Rahul Jadhav hailing from Kolhapur and Tofik Shaikh and Kunal Gaikwade, both from Pune were arrested in what the Panjim Police said was through their meticulous planning and coordination. “The assault and illegal firearm possession case reported at Peterbhat, Taleigao was cracked down,” reads a statement issued by the local police.

The accused have been booked under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 596 (ii) (criminal intimidation) and 427 (mischief) read with 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code; and Section 3 read with 27 of Arms Act. The recovery of the weapons was made in Pune besides a Goa-registered four-wheeler was also taken into possession by the police.
