Born in Saitem, Goa, Suraj Morajkar did his schooling from Don Bosco, Panjim. As a school kid, he too was engaged in playing pranks among his friends. Yes, punishment for these pranks, were not too far from him at school.
What made him mature early in life was when he received several jolts due to his innocence and child play. The course correction was soon followed by the help of his father.
“When I travelled out of Goa, I realised that my own state Goa, was much more peaceful, beautiful, full of culture, architecture and heritage. I decided that I must contribute to this beautiful State and that is how I got into the business of making homes, with a mission to ensure that the environment of the site is protected and not disturbed,” said Mr Morajkar.
As an avid cricketer, who played for Goa professionally, Mr Morajkar now wants to set up a cricket academy in the State and help those youngsters and budding cricketers who are looking for better opportunities in their game. “I am actually looking for a piece of land where I can set-up this academy and help nurse the talent of young cricketers,” said Mr Morajkar.
He loves to travel and recalls his penchant for driving from Paris to South of France but names New York City and France as one of his favourite places to travel.
However, for Mr Morajkar, Goa happens to be his favourite place in the world. “The old charm is still there. Goa de-stresses you. There are different genre of people who share with you different experiences,” said Suraj Morajkar. Whenever he gets some me time he does get hooked on to the idiot box and loves watching documentaries, movies and food channels.
Now his goal is to corporatise his business house which he calls “good DNA”. “I want to set up a SOP so that it runs on auto pilot mode and I want to be remembered for my work and my product. I also believe that one must have bigger goals with smaller road maps and parents must invest money in educating their kids,” added Mr Morajkar.
