PANJIM: The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) organised its 106th AGM, recently. Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar was the chief guest and Industries Minister, Mahadev Naik was the guest of honour. Keynote speaker Ajai Chowdhry, a founder member of HCL and former Chairman of HCL Infosystems, spoke on “Manufacturing: Prospects & Challenges’. Chowdhry said that with a policy of attracting pollution free, green units, Goa had a great opportunity to create an electronic system design & manufacturing industry. With its fantastic location, Goa can definitely attract both Indian and global investment. To augment its natural advantage, he said that Goa could start feeder lines from Goa to Mumbai and an electronics cluster could be created near the MOPA airport. He said that he strongly recommended setting up of an incubation centre in Goa for design of fabless semiconductors’ which were the most sought after the world over.
