PANJIM: The cart has finally started moving again. Goa is witnessing a barrage of start-up and IT related events. The State government will be launching its schemes on IT and start-ups on Saturday in presence of the Union Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Minister, Suresh Prabhu.
This event is being celebrated as Goa Start-up and Innovation Day which is likely to see about a 100 people from the industry, which includes, entrepreneur, venture capitalists etc. During this event, the State government will also launch the Start-up Policy, schemes and a start-up portal along with a Goa start-up ecosystem report. The event will have several talks and panel discussions.
The ‘invite only’ event has revved up keen interest amidst stakeholders in the IT and start-up industry and Goa is looking forward to delivery on promised made by the IT minister of Goa, Rohan Khaunte.
In fact, it is an opportunity for Goa to showcase itself to people coming from outside the State and could become a pre-curser to a bigger event in June when Suresh Prabhu will bring in venture-capitalists, World Bank and IFC to Goa.
The Goa IT minister, Rohan Khaunte met with the Goa IT Advisory Council which includes Mohandas Pai, co-founder of Infosys on how to make Goa a start-up and digital-ready State. He has chalked out a 90 day action plan to make Goa a preferred destination for innovation.
Meanwhile, Nasscom SME Council launched its Goa chapter on Friday and appointed Gajanan Nagarsekar, one of Goa’s leading innovator as its chairman.
