In search of silence

He lives a pretty hectic life. Jack Sukhija runs a pretty cool inn and is also involved in highlighting the history of Panjim though his walks. He took time off to speak to AJIT JOHN about the schedule he maintains and how he manages to maintain his cool

Like a good father he is up at 7 O’clock and drops his kids at school. Not for him the sweaty smell of a gym. Jack is involved in something much more ‘exotic’. He kick boxes and does aerobics three times a week in the evening. All that kicking can make a man who does honest work very hungry. Jack likes prawn curry and rice, regular goan fare but he also enjoys Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine. Like any professional in the hospitality industry, he prefers to eat in pretty nondescript places but which offer very good fare. Raj Bar near bay 15 is a favorite. Once a year when he visits Delhi, he visits the Bukhara which he considers a treat.
With regards to his choice in music, he prefers to listen to whatever his wife listens. With regards to reading however, he has pretty varied interests. He likes reading about history, economics, politics, historical fiction and travelogues. Like any married man, he watches movies that his children prefer to watch.
With regards hobbies, he likes reading, spending time outdoors, going to the beaches and up mountains and essentially any place where he can find silence.
Having visited all the major countries he would like to now visit the north east though most of his holidays abroad are mixed with work. Asked what he wanted to be doing, he smiled and said he had not thought about it.
