In the thick of action

Making movies can be a pretty rewarding but also very frustrating. It can drive the most capable of men a bit mad. Williamm Xavier manages his life and crazy schedule with elan. AJIT JOHN spoke with him and understood the formulae that drive him

For a man who intends to produce 4 to 5 movies in the next five years, Williamm enjoys watching TV, movies across genres and languages though his preference for Amitabh Bachan is quite striking. When asked who his favourite actress however, he laughed and said there were too many he liked.
His favourite director is the enigmatic Ram Gopal Varma. Like any good father, he is up at 7.30 to essentially drop his daughter to school. He then returns home sleeps. His love for music again takes him across artists as diverse as Kishore Kumar and A R Rehman. He loves watching the television and does not read much. As he puts it “I cannot sit in one spot for very long, I like watching the visual medium.”
With regards to food he likes his fish curry and rice though he enjoys south Indian cuisine especially that from Kerala a lot. The sambhar and chutney with rice is something he enjoys a lot. With regards sports like any true blue Indian, he loves his cricket and kabbadi. Planning movies, shootings and the accompanying tensions can get too much at times and he likes to take a break. Bangkok and Kerala have been places he has visited in the recent past. His holidays are not frequent affairs; he takes a break once every two years.
In the next five years, he intends to make 4 to 5 movies in Hindi, English and Marathi and then relax.
