It’s all about balance

She helps run the family hotel in Margao and is also a Chocolatier. A pretty hectic lifestyle with late hours cannot mean a healthy life. Radha Shinkre however has found the right mien to balance it all. She spoke to AJIT JOHN about her life and her interests

The life of a hotelier is never easy and that truism holds true for Radha too. Up at 7.30 she is at work at 8.30 which is spent buying fresh fish and chicken for the hotel. She spends the evenings in the hotel and if no then with friends at a local spot relaxing. Every evening, yes, she visits the gym to work out. A healthy body is a healthy mind.
Her choice in music is quite diverse. It can be EDM or her favorite song these days Sake of You by Hayes Carll or anything that is playing on FM. Her hectic life does not give her time to read much though she admits to keeping track of the developments in the world of culinary and yes, reading romance novels. With regards to movies, she is prepared to watch anything in three languages ie Hindi, English or Konkani but watches bits and pieces at home. Occasionally, she admits to going over to the theatre to just get away from it all for a couple of hours.
Like anyone who is trained to prepare food, she loves her sushi and is generally quite disappointed with its presentation in various restaurants. She sticks to eating junk food which she smiled and said was very nice. Asked which her favorite restaurant was, Radha said “It’s my restaurant, for me it is the best in the State.”
She is visiting Mumbai next week and hopes to satiate her hunger for sushi in that global city. Having studied the subtleties of being a chocolatier in Lucerne, Switzerland, she enjoys visiting places. She is planning a visit to the US towards the end of this year. She visited that country last year travelling across the east coast. This year it will be the west coast. In between she goes on short over nite holidays with family and friends or stays over at friend’s places.
