Even though he is not into any sporting activities since his school days, Yatin Kakodkar is an exercise freak, which makes him look fit as a fiddle at the age of 51. Discipline in life is the key word for him. “I just do my cardio vascular exercises for at least an hour, four to five times a week, very diligently and with lots of perseverance. For me it is a way to relax and it happens to be a great stress buster too,” said Mr Kakodkar.
An avid reader who loves to spend his free time by turning the pages rather than pressing the TV remote buttons, is now neck-deep into “Chancellorship forged into crisis”, a book written on Angela Markel, the German Chancellor by Alan Crawford who explains the ills of Euro crisis.
A nature enthusiast Yatin, feels blessed that he is in Goa and is an ardent supporter of nature preservation and protection. “I like Goa for its natural beauty, blessed water bodies and greenery. We must protect and preserve what God has given to us. The most precious feature of Goa is its natural beauty. Goa’s natural beauty is at risk from rising urbanisation”, said Yatin.
He recalls his life-changing experience when he joined Sydenham College, Mumbai where he interacted with many cultures and languages from different parts of the country. “In Goa it was not possible and I am fortunate that my college days made me more mature as I interacted with different people with diverse cultures. It surely helped me think differently and in a more inclusive way,” added Mr Kakodkar.
An alumni of one of the top management colleges on the planet, he learnt the skills of management and international culture at Darmouth College in New Hampshire, USA. “Those days were very formative years for my personal growth and I realised that from small community in Goa, I ventured into a much larger canvas where I interacted with one of the best qualified students from around the world. It actually made my outlook change. It made me cosmopolitan,” he said.
