‘Di Amkam Askari’, an audio CD produced
by the Society of Pilar with a collection of 5 hymns and 5 songs in honour of
Venerable Agnelo, has been released by the Vice-Postulation for the Cause of
Venerable Agnelo.
The opening hymn, ‘Bhoktiponn’
rendered by Cielda Pereira, throws light on the term ‘holiness’ and elaborates
further, giving instances of the life of Fr Agnelo. The next hymn, ‘Padr Agnel
Jezuchea Bhokta’ by Agnelo Cunha is a hymn which is usually sung during the
novenas in honour of Ven Agnelo at Pilar. It portrays how Fr Agnelo grew in his
Master’s immense love which enabled him to grow in holiness. In the third and
fourth hymns rendered by Sr Isabel and Fr Dominic Alvares, both members of the
Society of Pilar throw light on this humble and pious man. The concluding hymn,
‘Rochnnara Sorga Sonvsarachea’ by Agnelo D’Cunha is an ardent cry to the
Almighty to reward Ven Agnelo with the crown of
sainthood.

The five songs in the album are
based on Fr Agnelo as well as different subjects and themes. The first song,
‘Pilar’, rendered by Fr Lawrence Fernandes and Fr Jose D’Costa, brings to the
fore the picturesque hillock of Pilar and the history behind it. In ‘Fr Agnelo’,
Bro Carson Dourado gives a brief sketch of this Goan priest while the song,
‘Santacho Man’ by Tony de Ribandar, expresses the reasons why the man deserves
the title of a ‘saint’. In the concluding song, ‘Altar Favo Kor’, Fr Dominic
Alvares once again storms heaven to glorify this saintly priest so that all may
soon have an intercessor.
Agnelo D’Cunha and Canon
D’Souza have handled the music arrangements to all the hymns and songs. Fr
Hilario Fernandes is the commentator while Fr Dominic Alvares has served as the
project co-ordinator. The CD has been recorded at L M Studio, Goa Velha by
Benzamin Baptista and Canon D’Souza.
