The Diocesan Society of Education (DSE) recently released ‘MONTAGE, D.S.E.- Yesterday,
Today and Tomorrow’, a document compiled by the DSE, at the hands of Archbishop
Filipe Neri Ferrao, in the presence of Prasad Lolayekar, Director, Directorate
of Higher Education; Gurudas Pilarnekar, Director, Directorate of Art and
Culture; Gajanan P Bhat, Director, Directorate of Education and Nagraj
Honnekeri, Director of SCERT.Also present on the occasion were the Episcopal
Vicar, South, Fr Lucio Dias; President of DSE Fr. Joseph D’Silva; Secretary of
DSE Fr Zeferino D’Souza and Assistant Secretaries of DSE Fr Jesus Rodrigues and
Fr Arnaldo Pinho. The function was also attended by administrators, managers,
principals and heads of DSE and other non DSE institutions.
DSE runs educational institutions in all
areas of the state of Goa and has more than 60 primary schools, 61 high
schools, 12 higher secondary schools, one special secondary and higher
secondary school and two colleges, all aided institutions. It also runs one
high school and one primary school affiliated to ICSE Board.

Its sister concern, St Joseph Vaz Educational Society (SJVES),
runs St Joseph Vaz College (presently Science) and St Joseph Vaz Institute of
Education offering Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd).
“The book is a fitting tribute to the outstanding role that the
DSE institutions have played along the years, serving the cause of education
and contributing towards the building up of a new society in the state of Goa,
with a network of 84 educational institutions at various levels. The DSE can be
proud of having a lion’s share of the overall educational effort in Goa,” says
Fr Zeferino D’Souza, DSE secretary.
Each of the institutions featured in the publication contains in
its annals, stories of miracles wrought within its walls and of those who
worked them, as well as of those who witnessed them or experienced them in
their own persons.“This publication is therefore a verbal and visual
celebration of the institutions and of the people who are doing or have done
some of the most important work on our planet: helping to educate and raise up
the next generation,” adds Fr Zeferino.
The DSE, through this publication, showcases all its
institutions and their history in a very picturesque way, along with its legacy
for the generations to come, who will perceive with nostalgia all the efforts
of so many persons, past and present. The DSE also pays tribute to the
managers, heads, teaching and non-teaching staff, students, parents,
well-wishers and all those who have contributed in making DSE what it is today.
“The
DSE thanks all the Government directorates and departments, especially those
connected with education, for their unstinted support in helping DSE grow and
reach out to thousands of young minds, transforming them into worthy citizens
of our nation,” says adds Fr Zeferino.
