Actor Manoj Joshi was recently down in Goa for the ‘Natya Muhurat’ of the Hindi play, ‘Adityachaksu’ written by the Chairman of Kala Academy Vishnu Wagh. He seems to be excited at the prospect of taking up the lead role in the play. Manoj Joshi plays ‘Chanakya’ in the historical show, ‘Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat’.
A versatile actor, Manoj will also be directing the play. He says, “The play will be spreading the message to the audiences of what is hidden in Upanishad. When I was told by Vishnu Wagh to portray the lead character in this play, I was thrilled at the opportunity. I had heard about Vishnu’s writing as a journalist, writer and poet, and thus it gave me immense pleasure to be a part of it.”
For Manoj to get into the shoes of the wise scholar sage, Yajnavalkya isn’t completely new, because this is not his first time. The actor has been playing the role on stage for a few years now and has earned much appreciation for it on the small screen.
Speaking about the play, Vishnu Wagh said, “It sheds light on the life of Sage Yajnavalkya who was a philosopher, a great thinker of his time. The knowledge that he acquired from his gurujis (teachers), the hardships that he went through in his life, and also the immense knowledge that he obtained from the Sun God through meditation. His communication with other sages with wisdom and also his social life’s major events are portrayed by considering the current scenario. We have tried to share a message with the younger generation on how to deal with situations.”
Talking about the release of the play, Manoj informed, “Artistes from Rangmel would be acting in the play. Casting will be done within a month’s time and in another one and half month’s-time we will go on floors.”
Besides the above mentioned serials and plays, Manoj Joshi will also be seen working on Ghayal 2 with Sunny Deol, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo with Salman Khan and Abbas Mastan’s next venture, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu.
The best part about the play, ‘Adityachakshu’ is that it will not only be staged in India, but the makers of the play want to take it overseas as well. The ‘Natya Muhurat’ was well attended by dignitaries like actor-director Manoj Joshi, Kala Academy vice chairman, Sushant Khedekar, Member secretary, Dipak Desai, Rangmel head, Venkatesh Naik, Programme officer Dattaguru Amonkar, Rangmel artists and others.
