Dalgado Day celebrated

Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) celebrated its Annual Day with much enthusiasm on the occasion of the 15th Birth Anniversary of Sebastiao Rudolfo Dalgado, the patron of DKA.

Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) celebrated its Annual Day with much enthusiasm on the occasion of the 15th Birth Anniversary of Sebastiao Rudolfo Dalgado, the patron of DKA. Three new Konkani books in Romi script penned by senior Konkani writers namely, ‘Chintnam ani Sopnam’, a collection of poems by Felix P da Cruz,  ‘Avoychem Ontoskornn’, a collection of short stories by Pandharinath D Lotlikar and  ‘He Jinnent Kanttech Kantte’, a khell-tiatr in book form by Cirilo D Fernandes were released by  Dr Francisco Colaco, eminent physician and surgeon, Tomazinho Cardozo, editor of Konkani weekly ‘Amcho Avaz’ and John Claro, renowned writer and director of tiatrs respectively. The event also had a cultural programme consisting of songs, instrumentals, poetry, mimicry and monologue presented by DKA members including C D’Silva, Clarista Dias e Pinto, J P Fernandes, Annie de Colvale, Willy Goes, Jack de Vasco, William Fernandes, Aggy Fernandes, Pio Esteves, Rutuja Lotlikar, Tomazinho Cardozo, Irene Cardozo, Elick Vaz, Shaikh Amir, Jose Gomes, Daniel D’Souza, Rena D’Souza and Vassalo Carvalho. DKA staff members Augustine Coelho and Ankush Paddekar were also felicitated for services rendered to the academy.
DKA secretary Vincy Quadros briefly touched upon the objectives and aspirations of DKA and also announced two forthcoming activities of DKA, a book exhibition at St Francis Xavier Church, Borim on May 18 and a Story Telling Competition at Chavddi, Canacona on May 25, 2014.
