The feeling is yet to sink in. The Goan
fans of Brazil are yet to recover from the shock of their hero being ruled out
of the World Cup. As Neymar Jr went down in the 88th minute following an ugly
tackle which left him with a fractured vertebra, Brazil’s hopes of qualifying
for the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2014 also suffered a major blow. To make
matters worse, captain Thiago Silva’s suspension came as a shock for fans who
were hoping to see Brazil clinch the World Cup. With two of Brazil’s important
players being absent for the crucial match against Germany, football fans in
Goa are veering towards the possibility of Brazil not making it to the finals.
According to others, the Brazilian team’s over dependence on one or few
individuals in the team has made them vulnerable to attack from teams that have
been executing their strategies with team-play effectively. With France’s exit
coming as a shocker to some, and the exit of two of Brazil’s star players
adding to it, the end result is the overall star power of the World Cup going
down considerably.
