Nicole, a BBA student
from Dempo College who hails from Orlim-Salcette, was first selected as second
runner up for Miss Femina and on September 13, was selected as Miss United
Continent 1st Princess 2014 title at Guayaquil. Speaking to Herald at Dabolim
airport, Nicole told Herald that the competition was very tough competition,
but added that it was a great experience.
Speaking to Herald,
Matron Da Silva, father of Nicole, said he was proud of his daughter’s
achievement. “Nicole worked hard to achieve this title and had the full backing
of the entire family, relatives and her friends,” he said. He added that he
could not attend his daughter’s beauty pageant due to financial constraints. “Nicole
was always in my prayers and whatever she wants to do in her life, as parents
we will always support her. One day, we hope to see her featuring on the silver
screen,” said Matron.

Nicole’s aunt, Wilma
Virgenkar, said she was proud that her nice had won the Miss United Continent
1st Princess and added that whatever Nicole achieved was through her own
efforts. “She never had any experience in modelling, but her efforts,
sacrifices and commitments made her what she is today,” said Virgenkar. “Due to
financial constraints we could not witness the event. However, we arranged
money to pay for our own designer Melvyn Noronha to design Nicole’s dresses and
to send him to Ecuador,” added Virgenkar.
