As the cause to preserve and protect Goa’s fast depleting
environment continues, the second edition of the Goa Environmental Film
Festival is organising a slew of events to not only highlight the issues
concerning the environment, but how they can be addressed. Internationally
acclaimed environmental activist, Bittu Sehagal, founder editor of India’s
premier wildlife magazine, Sanctuary Asia, who has also played a leading role
in the tiger conservation project, will grace the festival.
A Kalakruti Expression of Art initiative, the festival has
collaborated with various private and government organisations. While
pre-festival events, in which school and college students participated, have
already shortlisted the best in each category, prize winners will be awarded on
the culminating day of the festival. The interesting aspect is that many of
these events will continue as a regular feature, even after the festival
concludes. “The festival will be a boost not only to the environment but to
films in Goa,” avers advocate Satish Sonak who is on the organising committee
along with Prerna Mainkar, Dr Laxmi Bharne, Architect Rita Modi Joshi,
advocate, Dr Prithvi Amonkar, Richard Dias and Raj Sutar.

The Goa Environmental
Film Festival will be inaugurated at 10am on August 22, 2014 at 10am at Kala
Academy and will conclude on August 24, 2014. All sessions are open to members
of the general public
