Have you begun #untzuntz-ing yet?

‘#Untzuntz’ has taken the social media by storm as fans of techno music have been posting using this hashtag. Café finds out more about this phenomenon and looks at who’s untz untz-ing at Vh1 Supersonic 2015

For those alien to the EDM lingo especially
Techno, Untz Untz is the sound that the music makes in almost all techno music.
People make the noise because it sounds cool. To explain the new phenomenon in
the best way possible, Festival Director of Vh1 Supersonic Nikhil Chinapa says,
“Social media is a funny thing. Back in the day, we used to call dance music as
‘This Thing-That Thing’ music because it sounds like that. And somewhere down
the line, someone also said that it sounds like ‘Untz untz’, which is true.
Somewhere in the process, Techno kind of hijacked the term, ‘Untz Untz’. So,
most people when they’re talking about ‘Untz Untz’ are referring to techno
music. In India, we have been using two prominent hashtags for Techno –
#MadeInTechno and #TechnoTakeover. But #Untzuntz has crept in this year and is
being used quite widely. We, at Vh1 Supersonic, have got just the most
ridiculous Techno line-up that Asia has ever seen and we are very happy about
it. So we’ll see a lot of people untzuntz-ing on the dance floor in Goa.”

The techno stage of Vh1 Supersonic,
Spectrum witnesses some of the greats in techno performing at the festival.
This year, Spectrum would be hosted by The Awakenings, considered as one of the
best ‘techno festivals’ in the world. Chinapa adds, “Spectrum is designed as a
stripped down stage that delivers an intense audio visual experience. We’ve
relied heavily on lasers, LED screens and intelligent lights to deliver what I
believe will be an incredible journey in sound and light for fans. We’ve also
designed the stage to draw fans into it, to create a warmer, more cosy vibe at
this stage.”
