Those acquainted with Diksha Singh from
Vasco will be surprised to see the transformation in this free willed Goan
girl. Diksha has been selected as the only contestant from Goa at the Femina
Miss India 2015 pageant which will be held on March 28, 2015 at Yash Raj
Studios, Mumbai. Currently undergoing training at Sofitel Hotel, Bandra, Diksha
is open to the challenges she will face in the process of perfecting herself
through various workshops. “The training is tough with hardly any time for
ourselves. I am learning a lot of new things and everyday has something new to
offer. We have three types of training everyday. These include cat-walk
training, hair and make-up, diction and communication and etiquette. We receive
the schedule of the next day only the previous night,” says Diksha, a first
year student at MES College, Vasco.
An outdoorsy adventurous person, Diksha was
not into beauty pageants and was rarely interested in cat-walks. Born and
brought up in Goa, Diksha was more interested in painting, singing and
travelling. “I decided to give it a try as the world is a small place and I
have nothing to lose. I believe that nothing is impossible and without
experience there is no growth process. The journey has been wonderful so far. I
didn’t expect to get through and in my family of two sisters and a brother; I
am the only one who ventured into this field. My parents are proud of me,” adds
Diksha.
Coming from a family with no background in
fashion or modelling, Dikhsa considers herself a raw contestant. “There are
some girls who have been to beauty pageants before and were associated with
Femina in the past while some are familiar with the fashion industry. I am a
raw contestant and hence even more enthusiastic. I will make Goa proud,” says
Diksha who has gotten through three auditions. “The first auditions were in Goa
where four contestants were selected including Ashita Dias, Rama Bishnoi and
Zahra Powell. The next round was the regional audition for places like Goa,
Hyderabad and Pune where six contestants were chosen, and I was the only Goan
girl. This is now the final round; the national round and 21 contestants and
competing for the title.
Who is her inspiration? None other than
fellow Goan: Gail Da Silva “My inspiration is Gail Da Silva who was part of
Femina Miss India last year. She is a very sweet person and shared her
experiences with me. She called me up and congratulated me on being selected. I
got to interact with her during the Goa auditions.” A Shah Rukh Khan fan,
Diksha is excited that the finale will be held at Yash Raj Studios. “It is my
favourite film production house and I am so excited to be here,” she says.
Diksha feels that at a competition such as
this, there are no friends. However, she is enjoying every moment of the
learning experience with the girls from across the country. “Everyone is good
but there are no friends. You have to keep evolving and be different every
time. I feel it’s never too late to start and I will be the dark horse who will
take the lead in the end,” says Diksha with conviction.
