Setting the tone for the 2025 award season ahead, The Golden Globes kicked off with a stellar award ceremony with Hollywood newcomers and old-time favorites. Two films that led the way were ‘The Brutalist’ and ‘Emilio Perez’ Held at the iconic Beverly Hilton Hall in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian and actress Nikki Glaser, the 82nd edition of the star-studded Golden Globes, and the first major ceremony of awards season, are considered a strong indicator of who will win at the Oscars.
‘Emilia Pérez’, a Spanish-language musical about a Mexican drug lord who changes gender, won four awards, making it the top film winner. ‘The Brutalist’, an epic movie about a Hungarian architect who builds a new life in the US after World War Two, won three prizes, including best drama and best actor for Adrien Brody. One of the night’s big surprises was Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres winning best drama actress for her tremendous performance in ‘I’m Still Here’.

Iconic actor Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe
Demi Moore took home her first Golden Globe award for best female actor in a film — musical or comedy for her role in ‘The Substance.’ “I really wasn’t expecting that. I’m just in shock right now. I’ve been doing this a long time, like over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor and I’m just so humbled and so grateful,” said Demi who looked emotional while accepting her award.
62-year-old Demi Moore received her first Golden Globes nod since 1997. She earlier had posted her reaction to hearing the news of the nomination, throwing her fists up with an ecstatic cheer as she watched ‘The Substance,’ and later her own name, appear on a TV screen as 2025 nominees.

They need representation, they need respect, they need love and peace in this world. I’m here tonight for all of you,” said Karla. She also became the first transgender actress following her joint best actress win at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. ‘Emilia Pérez’ is a genre-bending musical about a Mexican cartel boss who undergoes gender reassignment surgery and attempts to forge a new path as a humanitarian, with
help from an attorney played by Zoe Saldaña, who won the best supporting actress award for her role.

The two action superstars, Vin Diesel and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson have had a long-running feud during their time working together on the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, particularly in the film ‘The Fate of the Furious’. When Vin Diesel walked on the Golden Globe stage to present the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, no one expected him to give a special hello to The Rock by saying “Hey Dwayne” on live telecast of the awards. Johnson smiles with some awkwardness as Diesel acknowledges him.
