With a Master of Mass Communication from School of
Broadcasting and Communication, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Event Management
from EMDI and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Videography from St
Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Claudia D’Souza has quite a few accolades to her name
already. Currently the Assistant Professor of the BA course in Mass
Communication and Videography at St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, the young lady is
a fan favourite with her students.
Speaking on her journey, she says, “Teaching was always on
my mind, but I had no clue that it would start so soon. I always thought of
working in the industry with the eventual plan of getting into teaching after
10 years. When I was offered a lecturing job by my very own college, St
Xavier’s, I initially refused it and then took it up on a part time basis. I
have now been here for four years.”
With a passion for teaching and creative execution that has
since grown, Claudia has been totally immersed in almost all events organised
on campus. “Advertising and designing is my area of interest. The interface and
encouragement from the College Principal, colleagues and the students has been
excellent and the journey till now has been very exhilarating and successful.
There is so much creativity around us and these young students actually bring
it out,” she says.
For Claudia, being back on campus at her alma mater is an
experience that is a memorable throwback. The young educator says, “I have
joined the same department that I studied in – Mass Communication and
Videography. This campus has a lot to offer and I personally strive to mould my
students in their creative thinking. I believe that hard work is the key to
success and your character. I try to keep myself and my students proactive,
industrious and good natured.”
As is the case with most teachers, Claudia chooses to
conclude with a parting message to her students. “College is the best part of
your life after school. As you are about to take up a career of your choice,
learn a lot, believe in yourself and work hard. Success will eventually follow.
But have an aim and set your goals for yourself. Learn to prioritise and always
give things your best. Be humble and loving to all and most importantly, be
creative in all that you do and let your work speak
for yourself.”
