Goa went nuts over Avengers: Endgame, folks bought tickets for the 1:45 am and 7 am shows
It’s been a decade since Marvel movies began entertaining us. Finally an
end to the saga ‘Avengers: Endgame’ has broken numerous box office records and
has grossed over $2.2 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of
2019, the highest-grossing superhero film of all time, as well as the
second-highest-grossing film of all time.
People
have grown up watching the Marvel movies and have lived their last dream
recently.
While
everyone thought it was the ‘end-end’, it was revealed that there still are
sequels to the other Marvel films. ‘The End’ was just for Chris Evans and Robert
Downey Jr who have amused audience with their Iron Man and Captain America
roles for years now and have finally decided to move on and retire; which
indeed explains the end scene that left everyone in tears where Tony Stark
sacrifices himself and Steve Rogers ages in grey.
The
craze has not only been worldwide, but our little Goa turned a hotspot when
tickets were sold at night till 1:45 am and opening shows at 7 am in the
morning. No one has seen Goa go nuts like this! It wasn’t just fans… it was
fans’ friends, friends of friends, friends of friends who did not watch
previous marvel movies, old, young… and the list goes on.
“There
were six of us, we went for the 2:30 pm show on the day it released, we booked
well in advance, and the theatre was still packed! The last hour was definitely
my favourite scene. It was basically the last fight scene where all the heroes
came together. They also addressed most of the fans questions and plot holes.
It was really sad but an honorable ending,” expresses Ruth Leene from Shiroda.
Frezel De Sa, who is not a Marvel fan and
watched ‘Endgame’ because of her friends, shares, “I didn’t understand the
first 15 minutes of the movie since I didn’t watch the previous movies. Later
the movie was really good with all the action and fight scenes, plot and time
travel.”
There were some who watched it the
second and third time, “I had mixed feelings after watching the Endgame. I went
twice in a day at 11:45 am and at 4:15 pm and the emotions were gushing down my
throat,” says Joshua
Fernandes from
Merces. Similarly, Assis
Shaikh from
Panjim says, “I went for an early morning show at 7 am which was crowded even
at that hour. I’ve watched the movie 12 times I need to watch it more as I feel
like I am missing something. I feel like I need to watch it for the Easter eggs
references.”
And then there were that lot – the
DC fans cheating to watch a Marvel movie, “I am more of DC fan rather than
Marvel. Although, I did love the storyline,” says Carisio Azavedo from Santa Cruz.
Surprisingly, there were girls who
turned brave at the late hour and went for shows at night. “The theatre was 50%
full. I went for a 9.30pm show and reached home by 1 am. We were a bit scared
since it was late but I enjoyed anyway,” says Shikha Lagali from Margao.
The
movie has been running for two weeks now and is still packed with families and
friends coming in groups of 6 to 20. Most of the viewers admitted that their
most loved scene was Captain America being worthy of holding the Mjolnir
(hammer of Thor). People were heard wowing and applauding during the scene.
There are still sequels to the other Marvel movies presumably ‘Black Panther
2’, ‘Spider-Man Far from Home’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ with Thor, and
probably a sequel for ‘Black Widow’ that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
