‘Bhui
Mhaji’ is the latest Konkani song that has been doing the rounds on social
media, gaining fame and success in just three days.
Rrohit Gavandi, the
singer of the song, was appreciated by the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant
at his residence. The CM congratulated Gavandi and the team for creating a
masterpiece that describes Goa in its most beautiful way. Noted singer Hema
Sardesai also mentioned that the song brought tears to her eyes.
‘Bhui Mhaji’ is the
deep connection between soil and soul. “As Goa has given me the same warmth and
love I get from my mother, the connection between me and motherland Goa has
become so strong that it is her who spoke through my voice,” expresses Rrohit.
The lyrics of the
song are by Shiva Shirgaonkar, video editing by Nikhil Haldankar and production
by Rajesh Mandrekar of Monkey Valley Entertainment.
The day after the
song was launched, there were many likes and shares and he received a lot of
love from the state. “At 12:30 am, I received a WhatsApp message from a common
friend of mine, saying the Honorable CM has asked for my number. I was taken
aback with this message as I had never expected nor experienced this.”
Dr Sawant and his
wife Sulakshina Sawant called Gavandi and expressed their love towards the song
he so devoutly and fervently composed and sang. His wife Priti Gavandi, Shiva
Shirgaonkar and Rajesh Mandrekar visited the residence of the CM.
We were motivated, especially being in the presence of eminent
personalities. I thanked him for appreciating and understanding my art,” shares
Gavandi.
He walks down memory lane to the time he heard former President
A P J Abdul Kalam speaking as the Guest of Honour at his school, saying,
“‘Sapne wo nahi jo neend mein aate hai, sapne wo hai jo neend uda dete hai’
(dreams aren’t those that come while you sleep, dreams are those that drive
away your sleep).” He follows those exact words till date.
“Music has always been a part of my life since a kid,” says
Gavandi. The first time that he actually dazzled on the floor was while
representing his school St Augustine’s High School, Nerul – Navi Mumbai) in an
inter school competition and winning the first place out of 80 schools. “With
this achievement, I grew more close to music and have been pursuing it since
then,” he adds.
The culture and customs of Goa has always
inspired Gavandi to create and give back. He now moves ahead to create more
beautiful pieces that will inspire people.
