Old and young, most people spent their days singing Hakuna Matata and watching the colourful jungle
in the animated version of Lion King since 1994. Sure it was a killer! But
today we see our very own favourite characters in a live action film. Super
blast! The makers of the film call it ‘taking technology to a whole new level’.
Even though the live action remake is
animated, this one gives us a more realistic experience. It was the magic work
of ‘photorealism’. The direction , the sound effects, the live realistic animal
movements in the entire film just makes one feel like being in a jungle.
Although, it’s not only about the film technique, but Lion King remains to be
one of the iconic classics of all time. There are multiple reasons for it.

Because first of all, who can ignore the
cub? Adorable and strong, he grows into a brave lion. The story also teaches
one to not run away from problems. That’s what every parent teaches their kids
and every religion teaches people. Maybe this is why this film is so popular.
When the live action film hit theatres, it was all cheers to see a creation
like that.
“Back then in the 90’s the movie catered to the child within all
of us, most of the kids of the 90s where drawn to animation, and to go with
that the Lion King had a very heart-warming story to tell,” describes Godwin
Ryan Monteiro, an administrative officer. While the remake was amazing for him,
he says that the expressions were difficult to master since the characters were
real. “Still, it was basically nostalgia; no doubt the graphics were amazing,”
he adds.
Compared to the cartoon film, this one has made several changes.
The makers found it appropriate to make the movie more sensible and explain the
unrealistic scenes. For instance Rafiki the Mandrill (who presents Simba cub
while he was born) was misrepresented in the original cartoon, which had given
him physical features such as a long tail which is incorrect for a mandrill.
In the 2019 live action remake, the mistakes have been corrected
by giving all the animals their biologically accurate features. Other
corrections made were the presentation of many animals and plants that were not
native to the African setting in the original movie. The making of the 2019’s
Lion King required a lot of effort and that included animal experts too.
“No one was expecting the return of Lion King, specially a movie
to be made so original and real. It filled in all the bits and pieces that were
missed out in the animated version. The graphics in the entire movie gave me
jaw dropping moments, especially the songs,” says Lasha Gayle Dmello, Digital
Marketing Executive. Similarly, Anushka Mesta says, “The movie had a great
imapact on my childhood back then, and even today it lifts my spirit to watch
it once again.”
‘Lion
King’viewers have strongly felt that the animation (be it 90s’ or 2019’s)
wasn’t a big deal, but the story and the message that it gives has a greater
effect. And that concludes why Disney’s Lion King is known to be one of the
most Iconic films of all time. Spectacular story, overwhelming melodies and
fabulous screenplay has got us all going crazy for Lion King.
