It is shocking and even disgraceful to know that the law enforcing agencies under the present regime in Goa have filed a case against the two innocent priests.
One of the duties of the priests is to take care of their flock in the parish set up. They sacrifice their lives for the sake of their flocks. It is shameful to target such priests who are at the service of the people. As reported earlier there was lot of provocation and harassment on the part of law enforcing agencies before the ensuing incident. Obviously people were agitated. Priests did their best to control the crowd and protect the police personnel. Now a case is filed against the persons who controlled the situation. It is also surprising that it took three years to file the case. It is a clear case of vendetta not only against the Catholics in general but also the Catholic priests in Goa.
Both these priests went out of their way and did everything that they could do in order to help and protect the police personnel who were on the verge of being ambushed by the crowd. The priests are the ones who called the police. Priests were the ones who stood firm and controlled the crowds at the church premises. After doing all they could do to calm the situation that night, now they are being accused. No doubts, the law will takes its own course till then innocent priests will have to bear the brunt.
At the moment it is not an isolated case but there are many incidents wherein innocent’s people have been targeted, falsely accused and even threatened in different parts of our country. It is due to such incidents people in India avoid going out of their way to help the accident victims on the roads, by-lanes and in villages. There is fear among the public that innocent people will unduly be targeted and threaten in the process, though truth will ultimately prevail.
