The latest demolition drive at Baina-Desterro may sound terrifying to the dwellers of the 203 shanties but the encroachment on government land for so many years by them is not acceptable to such an extent. If they have legal rights they must be given a fair treatment and the illegal ones should thank their stars for having stayed illegally there for so long.
Now that the government has decided to go straight ahead with two good projects — completion of NH17B highway and Baina beach beautification. These projects must be supported by the citizens of Vasco, because our economic development depends heavily on these projects. The Mormugao MLA Milind Naik must be supported by the people as he is thinking in the right perspective in this regard.
