Baina demolition: Govt on the right track

I congratulate the BJP government for taking action against the illegal hutments in Baina. Any visitor to Baina beach would be disgusted to see people openly defecating on the beach. Many Goans are making an honest living who cannot afford land or flats in Goa due to high costs. Not everyone can work on ships or go abroad. There is no reason to give land free therefore to anyone. Those evicted from Baina should be put on a train and packed off to the constituency of the Karnataka MLA who came out in support of them. The question of rehabilitation simply does not arise in case of illegal occupiers of land. The legal residents of the area as well as the traditional Goan ramponkars and fishermen have been already rightfully provided with rehabilitation. The Congress party in Goa is visibly upset as it allowed the proliferation of hutments on government land as a means of creating vote bank politics. It may be noted that notable congressmen from the earlier Congress regime had stated that they were not dependant on Goan votes to win an election.
