Doing nothing is not the option

Wishful thinkers tend to live in cloud cuckoo land. The case in point is the recent letter by Bronson Coutinho captioned “Congrats Parrikar”. When Parrikar regime replaced the Kamat outfit the expectation was a democratic government let alone good governance. Neither of that has happened. Parrikar has managed to introduce corruption in a very subtle way. Under Kamat, the legislators competed with each other for bribes that spilled in the open and the common man got the wind. Under the Parrikar regime, it is carried out in a subtle way. Simple arithmetic will show how our legislators have been amassing crores in under 3 years. After all isn’t giving doles through Laadli Schemes, Seamen’s Welfare, Mining Affected People’s Welfare etc., amount to corruption? Whose money is it anyway! Anyone receiving monetary benefits should be disenfranchised. Otherwise democracy will always be at the mercy of the corrupt.
