I refer to the article in Herald titled ‘PM begs for life of girl child’ where the prime minister has rightly called for a stop to female foeticide as the ratio of females to males is dwindling in the country because some Indians prefer a baby boy to a girl child. It is a shame that in this 21st century Indian people treat female foeticide and abortions without any remorse, as though they are getting rid of their garbage. They don’t stop to think of the long-term effects this pre-meditated murder of a defenseless and unborn child will have on oneself and society as a whole. When we talk so much about women’s rights and protecting females why is nobody ready to fight this social evil? There should be NGOs fighting for the rights of defenseless unborn children killed daily by the unscrupulous doctors who want to make a quick buck.
