ISL Goa Carnival cut short

The Andre Santos penalty shot sailing over the crossbar sealed the fate of Forca Goa reaching the finals and having a blast with Kerala Blasters in Mumbai on December 20. FC Goa dominated the proceedings in every department of the game with an attack index of over 70% compared to a measly 45% of Athletico de Kolkata.
During the entire game Santos had many opportunities of scoring but most of his shots at goal were off the target and despite these shortcomings he was declared the man of the match and bagged a purse of Rs 50,000 which in the fitness of things he did not attend the post match ceremony as the guilt of this accolade writ large on him.
One wonders the very basis of the criteria in selection of awards as the same is a misnomer and disproportionate to one’s performance.
The media coverage and commentary of the ISL matches was par excellence as most of the general public could not get tickets to watch the beautiful game at the Fatorda stadium due to embezzlement in the issue of tickets.
