Jaya conviction

The conviction of Jayalalithaa, 4-year  jail term, disqualification  as MLA and a fine of Rs 100 cr has restored the faith of the people in the judiciary and given them hope that all scam-tainted politicians will  soon  be put behind bars.  This is the first   time a sitting CM has been  convicted.
The judgement will send shivers down the spines of thick-skinned politicians who thought they were above the law. The centre must come good on its pre-poll promises  by  instituting  a special court to fast-track all pending scam cases  worth thousands of crores of rupees. And who better than Justice  John Michael D’Cunha to preside over the court?
Prof Robert Castellino, Calangute
